Blue hour at the lake

A chill early morning balanced between the time of Autumn's reign and Winter's wrath. The lake sounding it's siren call in the blue hour.

Footsteps slipping on frozen shards of grass, as I made my way down the path. Unwelcome presence announced by echoes of bird alarms, quacks and honks erupting from waterfowl edging the lake.

Still cold lake, dampened by slow-moving mist smooth reflection broken by the splashing of feathered wings practicing takeoff and landing skills.

Surrounding mountains cradling the new sun before releasing it into the sky...

Soul catching moments made into forever memories.

About these photos:

Taken in the early morning at a local Okanagan lake, just before the sun peaked over the mountains. The migrating Canada Geese, and Trumpeter swans swimming just out of reach of my camera lens, mere small dots on the lakeside.

The time between Autumn and Winter is one of my favourite times of year to get out with the camera, the scenery lakeside in each season is mesmerizing but there is something that calls to the heart at this time of year.

How "Intentional" became my word of 2018

I don't normally do "The WORD" thing. I've nothing against it, and was happy to support those who did it every year. Contemplation is a good thing, but it's .... Completely not my thing... Until now I've managed to avoid becoming a "word for the year" kind of person   Staying away from any places where there might be talk about choosing your "word for the upcoming year" or situations that might possibly make "the word" part of my life...of course, well meaning friends would say..." oh, you have to get a word, it will change your life. We can't believe how much we love our "word" it's great having one." Right...ah ha... And it's only for a year.  Sure it is...once you start....it's a slippery slope. To me "the word" is like going into a pet store when you have absolutely no intention of bringing home that cute cat in the window... The next thing you know.. Yo...

If A Tree Falls

There's a phrase that reads... If a tree falls                                in the forest........ And no one is there. ....                                 Will anyone hear it? Writing blog posts can feel like that at times...                                 If I write it...                                 Does anyone read it?                                 Should I bother, is it even worth it? Then I realized....a blog post is like a tree in the forest.   If it's been written, someone will read it and even if they don't leave a comment it's still be...

A Golden Lakeside Hike

The sun was weak, recuperating after days of rain, although its rays were golden, coating everything it touched in a caramel glow as we wove our way through farmland until we reached an empty parking lot with enough spaces for all of us enthusiasts on this amazing and rare weather day.....
