As Autumn Ages

"As Autumn ages, it finds itself waking up each morning in a bit of a fog, with stiff joints that take until midday to limber up when the brilliant sunshine finally burns away the fog."

There's lots of Autumn color in this post, and all you have to do is click on the pictures to read it and see the full-size images.

Have you read As the River Runs? Lots of beautiful photos in that one too.

I've been creating Rural's blog posts in Adobe Spark for a while now, it's a wonderful way to share those larger images and the layout is so much easier for you to read.

They're also fun to create!

Please let me know what you think by clicking on the little heart at the end of the Adobe Post, leaving a comment, or sharing this online.

A little Rural love goes a long way, thanks so much.

Syrupy Summer Light

Shrouded in smoke from the forest fires the garden was still calm without a breeze. Sitting so quietly and waiting like the rest of us for the  hope of a cooler summer day.  It was one of those remarkable temperate days that stuck in your summer memory, brought out during winters chill when you could no longer feel your fingertips...full of lush green growth, and generously spreading warmth....the rare one that seem to come only as the bookends of summer.  Hot syrupy light was poured over everything that night... the kind that is so worth venturing out into the hot night for..the light...it laughed as it swirled among the petals, and wound through the stems of the flowers....glowing amongst soft leaves and glittering off of hard reflective surfaces. The heat radiating outwards, earth smelling of the scorched fabric...like an old-fashioned ironing board. Last week the hummingbirds were all over the Bee Balm, now it's out of fas...

How "Intentional" became my word of 2018

I don't normally do "The WORD" thing. I've nothing against it, and was happy to support those who did it every year. Contemplation is a good thing, but it's .... Completely not my thing... Until now I've managed to avoid becoming a "word for the year" kind of person   Staying away from any places where there might be talk about choosing your "word for the upcoming year" or situations that might possibly make "the word" part of my life...of course, well meaning friends would say..." oh, you have to get a word, it will change your life. We can't believe how much we love our "word" it's great having one." Right...ah ha... And it's only for a year.  Sure it is...once you start....it's a slippery slope. To me "the word" is like going into a pet store when you have absolutely no intention of bringing home that cute cat in the window... The next thing you know.. Yo...

If A Tree Falls

There's a phrase that reads... If a tree falls                                in the forest........ And no one is there. ....                                 Will anyone hear it? Writing blog posts can feel like that at times...                                 If I write it...                                 Does anyone read it?                                 Should I bother, is it even worth it? Then I realized....a blog post is like a tree in the forest.   If it's been written, someone will read it and even if they don't leave a comment it's still be...
